Mallam Ibrahim Sambo was born in Ikara, Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday 28th February, 1960. He started his early education at LEA Primary School Ikara in 1965 and proceeded to present Alhudahuda College Zaria in 1972. Thereafter, he attended Kaduna State College of Education Gidan Waya and Ahmadu Bello University for his NCE and Bachelor of Education Degree, respectively. He did his Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration (PGDPA), Masters in International Affairs and Diplomacy (MIAD) and Master Degree in Public Administration (MPA) all from Ahmadu Bello University. He attended the Senior Executive Course 37, 2015 at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru Jos Plateau State.

Mallam Ibrahim Sambo started his working career with Kaduna State College of Education Gidan Waya in 1988 as Lecturer in Educational Psychology. He was later converted to administration and rose through the ranks to the position of Principal Assistant Registrar. He transferred his services to Kaduna State Civil Service in year 2000 after serving as Sole Administrator in Soba Local Government Area from 1998 -1999. He was again appointed Chairman, Caretaker Committee in his own Local Government Area (Ikara) from 2002-2003. Mallam Sambo served Kaduna State Government in the following positions; Ag. Director Special Services Governor’s Office (1999-2002), Director Administration and Finance Ministry of Works and Transport (2003-2008), Director Cabinet Office (2009-2010), Director Administration and Finance Ministry of Health (2010-2012)

He was appointed Permanent Secretary by Kaduna State Government in April 2012 and served in the following MDAs; State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) 2012-2015, Ministry for Local Government 2016-2017, Ministry of Rural and Community Development 2017-February 2018. He voluntarily retired from Kaduna State Civil Service as Permanent Secretary in February, 2018 following his appointment as Commissioner Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission in March, this year.

He attended several National International Seminars and Conferences. He is married and blessed with 5 children and a grandchild.
